IHOP doesn’t offer seniors a discount, but they do offer a special 55+ menu at certain locations; this has been confirmed with IHOP’s team. Plus, there are additional ways to save money at this already-affordable restaurant chain.

Opening as a pancake restaurant in Toluca Lake, California, in 1958, IHOP now has more than 1,650 locations worldwide.1 While seniors don’t receive automatic discounts on their checks at IHOP, they can earn perks and get notified about specials by signing up for IHOP’s new Rewards program: the International Bank of Pancakes. To find out more about this program and how seniors can get the best deals at IHOP, keep reading!

While IHOP doesn't have a senior discount, they may offer a 55+ menu at select locations.

IHOP Rewards

IHOP launched its Rewards program, the International Bank of Pancakes, in 2022.2 Signing up is free, just enter your email address on the IHOP website to receive specials and deals via email. In addition, you can download the IHOP app, which is also free. The app will keep track of your orders and the PanCoins you earn.

“PanCoins” are “crypto pancakes” (which is a promotional gimmick and not actual crypto currency). Once you sign up for IHOP Rewards, you can earn five PanCoins with your first purchase as a Rewards member. For every $5 you spend, you earn one PanCoin. Three PanCoins can be traded in for one short stack of three pancakes. There are a bunch of other PanCoin menu rewards as well, such as a burger and fries for 12 PanCoins or a burrito or bowl for 15 PanCoins.

As a Rewards member, you’re also eligible for free pancakes on your birthday. See IHOP’s website or your local IHOP location for more information.

After you sign up with your email, clicking on the Rewards tab on the IHOP website will show you your dashboard; this keeps a record of your orders and the PanCoins you’ve earned. If you pay for IHOP orders via mobile app, the app automatically records the PanCoins you’ve earned. If you dine in at IHOP, your server will give you a receipt with a barcode you can scan to record your PanCoins — or a code to enter on your app or on your account dashboard page on the IHOP website. You don’t need to download the IHOP app to earn or keep track of PanCoins.

Other Ways Seniors Can Save at IHOP

Although a senior discount is not available at all IHOP locations, some franchise owners might choose to offer older adults a small discount on their total bills, an IHOP representative told us. IHOP’s 55+ menu isn’t currently listed on the main IHOP website; however, the same representative told us that it is available at many IHOP locations, which are 100 percent franchised. Prices vary slightly depending on location, but 55+ menu items are typically a little cheaper than items on IHOP’s regular menu. The 55+ menu includes a pot roast dinner, a crispy shrimp dinner, BLT and fries, several breakfast items, and a fresh berry salad.

IHOP notes on its website that you can get 20 percent off your first online order when you enter a code (see website for current code details). IHOP often runs promotional deals, too, so be sure to check the website or app to find out what kind of perks are available. Right now, for example, kids eat for free every evening with the purchase of an adult entree of $6 or more.

Another tip via IHOP’s website is to check your local newspaper for marketing inserts, which sometimes include IHOP deals and coupons. And if you purchase a $25 IHOP gift card right now, you get a $5 bonus card as well. Check IHOP’s website for more details.
