One Call Alert offers six medical alert systems to choose from, starting at only $24.95 per month. It’s affordable; however, it lacks some of the more advanced features, such as activity tracking, that we’ve seen from other medical alert systems we’ve reviewed, like Bay Alarm Medical. Still, we believe One Call Alert offers excellent value and dependability.

Founded in 2013, One Call Alert is recommended by health care professionals across the country. The company caters to budget-conscious customers with affordable monthly rates and no contracts. One Call Alert systems can be returned within 10 days for a refund, but be aware that you will have to pay a $50 restocking fee. If equipment isn’t returned within 30 days, One Call Alert will charge you $350. Beyond that period, One Call Alert and MobileHelp (which acquired One Call Alert within the last few years) note in their terms and conditions that there’s a three-month minimum term of service.1

One Call Alert vs. Other Medical Alert Brands

One Call Alert offers various plans at affordable prices, as well as systems for at-home and on-the-go protection. Its at-home cellular systems have an impressive, 1,400 feet of range from the base unit. However, it doesn’t have some of the more high-tech features other top-notch medical alert systems offer. If you want to compare One Call Alert to other top options, see the best providers we’ve reviewed below.

A Closer Look at One Call Alert Systems and Value

A One Call Alert system can provide protection in your home or on the go. Upon pressing your help button, you’ll be connected to an operator at their call center who will notify your loved ones or send emergency services, depending on the situation. We’ll dive into the details of each system below.

One Call Alert Wired Home

One Call Alert Wired Home

One Call Alert Wired Home

For homebodies or those who live in an area with spotty cellular coverage, the Wired Home is a great option. Starting at just $24.95 per month, this system will connect to your existing telephone line and provide 24/7 in-home monitoring service with a coverage area of 600 feet. Featuring a 32-hour backup battery, wearable button, and two-way communication capabilities, the Wired Home offers basic features to keep you safe in your home at a great monthly price.

Money-Saving Tip:

Money-Saving Tip: When you order your system, ask a representative if free shipping is available. This could save you $12.50.

This model is $5 to $10 cheaper per month than many competitors’ basic options, including Medical Guardian’s monthly costs and ADT Health’s starting prices, so it’s an affordable choice. However, you can’t add fall detection to this system, so if you’re at high risk of a fall, you’ll want to check out One Call Alert’s other systems.

One Call Alert Classic

One Call Alert In-Home Wireless

One Call Alert Classic

Much like the Wired Home system, the Classic system provides older adults with protection in and around the home — though this system uses cellular coverage for service instead of a landline. The Classic has a 32-hour backup battery, a wearable button, and two-way communication so you can quickly speak with an emergency operator if needed.

Double-Check:

Double-Check: Before purchasing the Solo, Classic, Duo, Mobile Duo, or Micro system, make sure your home is in the AT&T network coverage area.

At $24.95 per month, this system costs the same as the Wired Home. Thanks to the cellular connection, though, your pendant will work within a range of 1,400 feet from the base unit, which is one of the largest ranges in the industry. That gives you the freedom to place your system anywhere in the home, even if it’s not close to a landline. For extra protection and peace of mind, you can add automatic fall detection to this system for $5.50 per month.

With this plan, you can choose from a white or black wristband option for your device or a pendant. If you select a wrist-strap option for your pendant but would also like a necklace-style pendant, you’ll have to pay an additional $2.99 per month. Other companies, such as Bay Alarm Medical, include both options in their similar In-Home Cellular plan, letting you choose whether to put your device in a wristband or on a lanyard to wear around your neck. One Call Alert’s wristband option, however, is sturdier and much more “watchlike” than the Bay Alarm Medical wrist option, which looks flimsy.

One Call Alert Solo

One Call Alert Solo

One Call Alert Solo

With the Solo system from One Call Alert, older adults can rest assured that emergency help is just one button-push away, no matter where they are. This mobile system costs $34.95 per month and uses GPS tracking and nationwide cellular coverage to provide on-the-go protection. You can wear the Solo system around your neck or put it in your pocket while you’re out and about, and place it on its charging base when you’re at home, making it versatile and a great value for the price.

Mobile Duo

One Call Alert Mobile Double

One Call Alert Mobile Duo

Perfect for couples, One Call Alert’s Mobile Duo system provides coverage for two seniors at the cost of a single system. You and your spouse don’t have to purchase two Solo systems; this system comes with two mobile units for $49.95 per month, the same starting price as MobileHelp’s mobile duo option. It will save you about $25 a month compared to purchasing two separate systems. Some providers we’ve reviewed, like Lifeline, require couples to buy two separate medical alert systems, which adds up very quickly and makes the Mobile Duo an affordable option for spouses. Like the Solo system, the Mobile Duo is great for active older adults who would like to have a medical alert system at their fingertips, just in case.

One Call Alert doesn’t require long-term contracts, so you can cancel your service at any time without penalty. (Just make sure you return your equipment within 30 days to avoid fees beyond the $50 restocking fee.)

One Call Alert Micro

One Call Alert Micro

One Call Alert Micro

If you’re looking for a small, lightweight mobile system, the Micro is a great choice. It’s also One Call Alert’s third most expensive mobile system at $34.95 per month. Still, if you want a more modern-looking device, it may be worth the extra cost. You can wear this system anywhere and call for help at the touch of a button. It features multimode location tracking to ensure help can be sent directly to you, no matter where you are.

One Call Alert Duo

One Call Alert Complete Protection

One Call Alert Duo

One Call Alert’s most comprehensive system, Duo, provides protection in your home and on the go. Using cellular service, the Duo system connects you to an emergency operator when you press your button or the system detects a fall. For $41.95 per month, you’ll get an in-home base unit, a mobile medical alert unit and charger, and a wearable help button. This system offers excellent value for a single older adult who desires protection in and out of the home. You’re basically getting two alert systems for the price of one.

Add-on Accessories: Pricing and Features

One Call Alert offers a lineup of equipment and features that you can typically purchase for an additional fee.

Fall Button

For an extra $5.50 to $11 a month, depending on your plan, you can add automatic fall detection to your wireless or mobile One Call Alert system. With this add-on, the system will automatically detect a fall. If you are unconscious and can’t press your button, emergency services will still be alerted. If you have a history of falls or just want the extra protection, this add-on is worth the price.

Lockbox

One Call Alert offers a lockbox for $2.99 per month (free with annual plans) that goes around the front doorknob of your home. During an emergency, first responders can enter your home without breaking down the door. They will simply enter the code you give them to access a key. This added perk can save you from replacing your front door, which could cost hundreds of dollars or more.

Money-Saving Tip:

Money-Saving Tip: One Call Alert provides free activation and, on annual plans, throws in a free lockbox with every order and free ground shipping.

Protection Plan

Starting at $6.99 per month, this protection plan covers the cost of any lost, damaged, or stolen equipment, so you won’t have to pay replacement fees. Plus, it lets you lock in your monthly rates so you’ll never have to worry about price hikes, and it provides discounts for add-on accessories and extra equipment.

FYI: Researchers have found that older adults who use an emergency alert system for medical problems had a lower risk for falls.2

How to Get the Best Deal With One Call Alert

Depending on the package and payment option you choose, One Call Alert’s prices range from $24.95 to $49.95 per month. Though One Call Alert offers solid value compared to some of the best medical alert systems out there, they do still have a little ways to go on helping you save further. For the best deal, we recommend an annual payment plan, as it can save you money on monthly rates.

For example, if you choose to purchase the Mobile Duo system and pay monthly, you’ll end up paying nearly $600 in the first year. Instead, we recommend purchasing an annual plan up front at $549.45, which will save you about $50.

Buyer’s Tip:

Buyer’s Tip: You can pay for your One Call Alert system monthly, quarterly, semiannually, or annually. We’d recommend the annual payment option, as it typically offers the most savings per month.

Keep in mind that the prices shown on One Call Alert’s website are promotional rates for new customers. After one year of service, your One Call Alert rates may increase.

One Call Alert vs. the Competition

MobileHelp acquired One Call Alert several years ago, and in 2024, Medical Guardian — which made our list of top medical alert systems — acquired MobileHelp.3 So One Call Alert now has the support of two big players in the medical alert industry.

There are pluses and minuses when companies are acquired, as always. For example, Medical Guardian does not offer free trial periods to test their products, and now One Call Alert does not either. We do like that One Call Alert users can now use the MobileHelp caregiver app, which we’ve reviewed positively after thorough testing.

We also appreciate that One Call Alert does not charge an activation fee, as such fees are pretty high with some competitors’ systems, such as Life Alert, which charges a $200 activation fee. One Call Alert’s pricing, in general, is also competitive, matching its sister company, MobileHelp. Both companies offer systems starting at $24.95 a month, and neither charge an activation fee.

>> Expert Advice: Read our review of the best medical alert systems with fall detection.

In addition, One Call Alert includes a free lockbox if you pay for your system annually. By contrast, LifeStation charges $2.95 per month for this potentially lifesaving (and front-door saving) feature.

We’re less enthusiastic about some of One Call Alert’s promotions, though, which can be confusing. For example, after we filled out a form for more information about One Call Alert, the email arrived in our junk folder, as it was essentially an ad. The email claimed I could get two months of service for free; but according to the asterisk note at the bottom of the mail, the deal is only for annual plans, and the second month is “free” in the form of a $50 gift card, with no details about where this gift card could be used.

It’s unfortunate that One Call Alert doesn’t come with a 30-day money-back guarantee anymore, like LifeStation and Bay Alarm Medical systems do. But we appreciate that One Call Alert does not require a long-term contract for service, like Life Alert does. The company also offers a great deal for couples, and for the same price as MobileHelp. And most importantly, One Call Alert promises that trained professional operators will always respond to emergency alerts; some companies answer calls with automated messages unless the user opts out of that default response.

Our Methodology: One Call Alert Review

Our team of senior tech experts spent over 100 hours evaluating One Call Alert’s medical alert systems. We have a list of criteria we use to evaluate each system, including device durability, price, the buying experience, GPS capability and accuracy, and overall value based on our hands-on evaluation of each company’s products and services. We also ask older adults for feedback on the systems whenever possible. We then use our research and personal experience with the products to give each company a star rating out of five.

Below are more details on the aspects we look at when testing medical alert systems:

  • Cost: We look for reliable options that fit every budget to help ensure seniors who need medical alert systems can find one they can afford.
  • Value: Top of mind in our evaluation is whether a system’s price justifies its overall value, so we research and try each company’s most basic system and optional add-ons when possible.
  • Emergency response: We test each system for average response times, accuracy in detecting falls, and how helpful and courteous response agents are. We also make sure agents are easy to hear and understand and that they can hear us during test calls.
  • Ease of use: We thoroughly test every button and function to see whether they’re intuitive and work like they’re supposed to.
  • Purchasing experience: We consider the ease of finding product and purchasing information on a company’s website and speak with customer service representatives to find out if they’re patient and helpful, and if they provide accurate information.
  • Equipment: We look for equipment that’s high-quality, durable, and reliable. So we test alert buttons in the home, mobile devices away from home, and fall detection features.
  • Features and Add-Ons: We test as many optional features as we can, such as fall detection capability and caregiver apps to ensure they’re useful and worth the price, especially if they’re not free (which is usually the case).

Is One Call Alert Right for Me?

In the United States, about 28 percent of older adults — almost 6 million men and more than 10 million women — live alone.4 If you fall while you’re by yourself and cannot get up, help could take hours to arrive. With One Call Alert, you won’t have to worry about reaching a phone during an emergency. You’ll simply press your wearable help button and, no matter where you are, the system will connect you to a live operator. First responders will be sent to help before you know it. One Call’s help buttons are waterproof, so you can use them in high-risk areas like the bathroom for the ultimate coverage. If you’re at high risk of a fall or just want some extra peace of mind, One Call Alert is a solid choice.

Overall, we’d recommend One Call Alert for the following types of users:

  • Older adults who want a simple, affordable system
  • Spouses or roommates who both want protection
  • Those who want a hybrid in-home and on-the-go system

Final Thoughts on Pricing and Value for One Call Alert

Overall, One Call Alert provides reliable protection and a versatile product lineup at reasonable prices. However, they lack some of their competitors’ bells and whistles. If you’re looking for a stylish necklace for your help button, a companion app, or a smartwatch system, you won’t find it with One Call Alert. However, they do have great freebies and monthly discounts for those who purchase an annual plan. Plus, with prices starting at $24.95 per month, they’re one of the more affordable options on the market.
